Children’s Wishes and Dreams is an organization that is near and dear to our hearts. My daughter was granted a wish in 2007. Carlee Ritch is now 23 years old and was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome at the age of 3. Turner syndrome is a genetic condition that affects only females, results when one of the X chromosomes (sex chromosomes) is missing or partially missing. Turner syndrome can cause a variety of medical and developmental problems, including short stature, failure of the ovaries to develop and heart defects.
Carlee also has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Very High Anxiety, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, High Blood Pressure and Non Verbal Learning Disorder. She wears hearing aides and glasses. She has thinning of her kidney walls and thickening of her heart muscle. 98% of Turner girls don’t make it past the 25th week of gestation. For Carlee to be here is a true miracle. She has an amazing smile and a courageous spirt wrapped up in a beautiful package! Carlee is also the reigning Miss Washington Shining Star for 2020, it is a pageant for girls that are differently-abled.
